After spending several years focused on being a proud homemaker, Asha knew it was time for a new chapter. While she brought valuable professional experience from her home country, she was unsure how to navigate the U.S. job market, present her skills effectively, or prepare for interviews.
Everything changed when a friend introduced her to the ReadyWork$ program.
“At first, I didn’t know what to expect,” Asha recalled. “But once I started, I realized I wasn’t alone anymore. There was someone to guide me, and that made a big difference.”
Through ReadyWork$, Asha participated in group sessions, completed career-readiness assignments, and practiced interview skills in a supportive environment.
Asha shares that one of the most impactful experiences was participating in mock interviews with employers.
“They helped me understand what I was doing wrong and what I needed to improve,” she said. “It wasn’t just practice. Real interviewers treated me like an applicant and helped me recognize my potential.”
With ongoing feedback from trainers and employers, Asha strengthened her interview skills, learned workplace expectations, and gained a better understanding of how to position herself for opportunities.
After completing the program, Asha accepted a position as an Anti-Money Laundering (AML) Analyst, where she is now putting her skills and experience to work.
“This opportunity has given me confidence,” she said.
Looking back, Asha says the experience was about more than finding a job. It changed how she viewed her future and what she was capable of achieving.
“To pursue a career in banking, you need determination and a willingness to keep learning,” she shared. “Stay focused and don’t give up. Growth takes time.”
Today, Asha is thriving as an AML Analyst and continues to build her career while encouraging others who may be considering their own next step. Her story demonstrates how the right support, practical experience, and perseverance can help transform uncertainty into opportunity.
