CareerWork$ Medical connects young adults from under-resourced communities to lasting, stable careers in non-clinical healthcare through free training, and builds supportive partnerships to advance equitable economic stability.

After completing our comprehensive eight-week training, CareerWork$ Medical graduates are better prepared for non-clinical, entry-level positions in healthcare than candidates from the general marketplace, more likely to stay in roles longer, and better positioned to grow in their careers.

Many come from previous customer-facing positions in the service industry and receive specific training on transferring these skills to patient-facing positions in healthcare, to ensure quality relationships.

Positions for which graduates are prepared include:

  • Appointment Scheduler
  • Benefits Specialist
  • Clinical Ops Project Specialist
  • Credentialing Coordinator
  • Customer Service Representative
  • Fulfillment Associate
  • Inventory Control
  • Mammogram Tracking Representative
  • Medical Receptionist
  • Operations Support
  • Patient Access Representative
  • Patient Navigator
  • Patient Service Representative
  • Registrar
  • Research Management

What to expect

Our free, eight-week industry-specific career training programs provide the skills needed for any entry-level banking or non-clinical healthcare position with career potential.

Classes are typically three days per week. Times and days may vary by location.

Getting hired for a lasting career

In our training, participants learn industry-specific skills for on-the-job success, and the communications and people skills needed to succeed as a professional anywhere. They learn how to create a positive impression, build relationships with clients and co-workers, and problem-solve. They practice speaking confidently in front of a group, interviewing successfully, and giving and receiving constructive feedback. Participants are also guided to identify and apply transferable customer-facing skills from past employment to future careers.

After eight weeks of intensive training, we celebrate the hard work and dedication of participants during a combined graduation ceremony and personalized job fair. Graduates are guaranteed an interview with each employer partner, and have ongoing coaching and job placement support.
